Learn to turn your story into theater.
With an open view of the world, you set to work to tell your story as sharply as possible. You will do so inquisitively and professionally, in a wide variety of places and together with actors, designers, musicians and audiences.
You are a storyteller who draws others into your imagination. You learn to direct in all its facets: from classics to your own texts, movement theatre, musical theater, neighborhood projects or combinations with other disciplines. Sometimes you write yourself, sometimes you work collaboratively.
As a director you give direction and connect players, design, concept, language and audience. You gain insight into technique and organization and create your own work in which everything comes together. You learn to do artistic research, how cultural entrepreneurship works and what leadership means.
In theory classes you will build your knowledge, reflection and network. History, philosophy and current themes such as diversity and inclusiveness are discussed. You also investigate the future of theatre and the role of new media.
You develop dramaturgical concepts and explore your own style, for example through an essay. In joint projects with other programmes, you explore other disciplines and discover your own way of working together. Besides classes, you work independently: you read, visit performances and festivals, and immerse yourself in art and stage practices.
