Shape your ideas without boundaries.
Scenography and Costume Design Maastricht trains talented students to become the designers of the future. The program distinguishes itself from all other programs in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany in three ways.
International Focus
A visit to the Venice Biennale, a theatre technique class at the Bonn Opera, an internship in Vienna, an Erasmus exchange to London, lessons from an international guest lecturer — in Scenography and Costume Design, this is the culture. Our focus, like our location, is international. Do you long for a career that extends beyond national borders? With us, that ambition becomes real. You will actively build your international network during your studies.
Large productions
Theatre Design at Toneelacademie is the programme that prepares you to work on large-scale (stage) productions. Our scenographers and costume designers work everywhere: in theatre, opera, film, in museums, at and for festivals and as autonomous artists. Choosing Theatre Design means choosing a larger field of work and more future opportunities.
Specializing and stacking
Scenography and Costume Design is the only international study where you can specialize and stack. In one year you will discover where your talent lies and where you want to specialize: scenography or costume design. If creating and studying come easily to you, then as a top talent you can continue with us in both directions. You will then be trained as a scenographer and costume designer.

Cassandra, Clytemnestra and Iphigenia know their fate. Over dinner with musician Thordis, they reenact their lives and deaths over and over again. Their warnings that the world will end badly is never heard. Or are they?
