The central question of this research project is: how are contemporary cultural dynamics, characterised by technological, intercultural and globalising developments, manifested in the contemporary theatre and how does the theatre itself contribute to these cultural dynamics?

The research is organised around four case studies about the operation of theatre institutions (companies, venues, theatre education and theatre policy).
