“With an animal on stage the actor never wins….”
But how to play the game?
Is there one?
Are there sides - human/animal?
Or can we go beyond the binary?
How do we share a space/stage?
What is this common space/stage to take; how much can we take, how much should we give?
How do we communicate without a shared language?
How can we respond to different bodies and what can we learn from them?
How does it actually look and feel like when we focus on connectedness rather than distinction or extinction?
This performance proposes a research circling around these questions. The research included the writings of Donna Harraway and Ursula K. Le Guin, animal memes, encounters with animal handlers and improvisations with several animals.
The cast of performers includes dogs, chickens and a mantis.
Audience members are invited to take up responsibility for their own bodies (allergies, fear, etc.)
