Fashionclash

In 2017 Wieke van Rosmalen (1996) suddenly made an EP: VICA. It was through VICA that she re-encountered her long lost love for music. She creates sounds that hurt your ears a little and compositions you only start to understand once you’re long done listening.

In ‘the one-hundred-and-seventeen sounds my worn jeans made’, Wieke van Rosmalen explores the sounds of clothing. A dress put over your head, a zipper closing, cotton on skin. What makes us empathise with clothes? And can clothes come to live? Through a search in sound and touch, Wieke explores everything a dress, sweater, or pair of jeans can be. They become a composition of their own. They create their own music. So we can listen to them carefully.

In this performance clothes get the leading part. They won’t need the human body anymore. They can finally be independent.

Continuous Installation after each presentation.

This project is made possibile in co-production with Via Zuid, Talentontwikkeling podiumkunsten Limburg.

The whole of Marres "House for Contemporary Culture" will be transformed into a Performance House during the festival. Here you can enjoy various crossover performances by young theater makers and students from the Maastricht Academy for Perfoming Arts.
